The Original Mayan Prophecies
The original Mayan prophecies originate from within various aspects of this ancient civilization’s rich history and culture, a culture that has spanned more than 12000 years by Mayan estimations ). Today, many of their prophecies are still accessible and can be found in various places, (a) such as in the Mayan Codices that had survived the Spanish conquest, for instance in the books of Cilam Bilam; (b) in ancient Mayan mythologies, for example in the Mayan creation story, and on various stone stellae at archeological sites in Mesoamerica; (c) on murals in excavated Mayan pyramid inner rooms and (d) on preserved ceramics displayed or found in museums and private collections and (e) several of the ancient Mayan calendar systems have prophecies naturally embedded within them by design.
Serious modern day scholars and archaeologists would usually refer to some or several of the above mentioned sources. There are also prophecies that had been passed down from generation to generation through folklore and by word of mouth and they would usually be unknown to those outside the Mayan culture.
This article and the one following it will selectively focus on accessible Mayan prophecies from authentic sources that are specifically relevant to our discussion. Our purpose is to consider the prophecies which can be correlated with real events that have taken place in the not too distant past while we will look at the symbolism of the prophecies for the near and intermediate future:

We need to fully understand that humanity is in transition right now. One could look at it in the following way by using another analogy. There are two streams. They are flowing at the same time. The one is wide and polluted and slowing down. The other is narrow and clear and increasingly coming on-stream. The fish in the wide stream have lost their colour and are lacklustre and tired due to the contamination. They are finding it harder and harder to make headway through the murk. Some of them have forgotten where they came from and where they are going to. The narrow and clear stream is flowing within the wide and polluted stream. The fish in the clear part of the stream have decontaminated themselves and have regained their colour and vibrancy. They have remembered where the came from and they know where they are going to, so they are staying inside the narrow, fast moving, clear stream. They are excited and appreciative about having chosen the clear stream and having rejuvenated their sense of direction. The narrow stream has a clear destination. It is flowing back home. The wide polluted stream’s destination is unknown. Up ahead the two streams will diverge. It is best to choose well with which flow we are going to go.

…. “The Self” is our authentic self, hidden under the layers and layers of elements making up our personality, built up from childhood through culture, socialisation, belief systems and so on. The ego self is that layered persona which we use as a reflection to the world of who we are, in order to get ahead in life, but also to use as a defence mechanism in order not to show our real self. Many people confuse their ego-self with their real self and think that they are only their egos, due to having suppressed their real selves all their lives. It is important for all humans to have a well developed and healthy ego in order to function normally, but the ego-persona should be secondary to the authentic self. Ideally one would predominantly live from the real self as this would naturally lead to balance and contentment within which would produce authentic happiness. ….
